Robert Michael Allstott passed on to Heaven on April 11, 2024 surrounded by loved ones at home.
On October 21, 1962 the John Day Hospital saw it’s first set of twins. One of them was Robert “Mike” Allstott, to Robert M. and Janet C. Allstott. He often teased his twin sister Melissa (Lisa) that she was lucky they even let her come out after he was born. The family settled in Lakeview, Oregon and Mike grew to love sports and the outdoors. With the help of his best friend, David Avery, they were gone most weekends hunting. This was also when his love of woodworking started. This always remained a favored hobby, and he filled his family’s home with all the wood furniture it needed. Other family members got cribs, bassinets, beds, gun cases, mirrors and many other items. In 1981, he headed off to Eastern Oregon University in La Grande, Oregon and quickly fell in love with all of the outdoor adventures Eastern Oregon had to offer. In 1987, he became a manager for Rainbow King Lodge and headed to Alaska, which became a place that he would get back to every chance he could. In 1988, Mike began his career in wood products, making it 34 years, and gaining many lifelong friends. The last 24 years was spent with Affiliated Resources. Mike thrived in this sales environment, and truly had a second family with this company. A special thanks to Mike Wilkins, Chris Vaughn, Angela Smith, Geoff Toma, and Nick Colasurdo and the team at ARI (Forest City). Your love and support has meant so much to our family!
In 1991, he met and in 1992 married Roberta (Bobbi) Little in Sacramento, California. It was said they couldn’t have been more different, yet with God and their love of each other they became a force of His to love others well. In 1995, they had their first child, Robert Enicholas “Nic” in Sacramento, California. Mike would often say life truly began when he got to be a dad! They soon moved to Littleton, Colorado then back to their birth state of Oregon. In 1997, Kristen Sandy was born in Eugene, Oregon. From the very beginning she truly had her daddy wrapped around her little finger. Shortly after that we started on our next adventure, when in 2001, Mike took his family back to La Grande, Oregon and raised his children there. He invested much of his time at Eastern Oregon University, Imbler School, Faith Center and Southside. He also creatively started “tuition farms”; the family garlic farm, to help his kids raise money for college.
He loved to cheer on children through college age, and truly believed if young people knew that somebody believed in them and supported them they would grow into confident people and change the world! He became a father to many through loving and supporting those around him. He was often called, “The Baby Whisperer” because he truly loved babies and children. You could often find him at the back of the church, rocking the crying babies and giving their mommas a break.
Mike was such a sincere and kind person with quick wit. Many would say he was the little brother that they didn’t know they needed. He was filled with joy, laughter, and jokes. Often times people didn’t know if he was joking with them or not, which brought him even more amusement.
In early 2022, we got the news that Mike had a Glioblastoma (GBM) and was frequently told that he had probably 3-6 months left to live. Mike took this statistic and chose hope instead. He tried to encourage others with this hope, and started saying N = 1. This meant that he was a sample size of 1, and was going to live his life knowing that he was more than just a statistic. Through doing this he helped to encourage others fighting similar fights, and show that in the midst of darkness, there is light.
Mike was truly blessed by those he encountered on his cancer journey. With the help of Dr. Noah Lebowitz, Dr. Rick Schwartz along with Michelle and Jeanne from Nutrition-Solution, and Rosie Calderon, we started on an adventure to get him more time. God blessed and directed us to these places and for 15 months we not only got great memories, but many were astounded that even with a GBM Mike kept his personality and truly stayed himself. We continued to pray for a miracle and at the same time God continued to say, "I am giving you one”!! Looking back He truly did! Mike would often say, “I wouldn’t give cancer back if it meant I wouldn’t have gotten to know the real love of God and to truly get how loved I am”. We couldn’t have gotten through this time without the many prayers, love and support of so many.
This includes the amazing team of doctors, including Dr. Kathryn Wagner, Dr. Alexia Sander, Dr. Grant and Elizabeth Harmon at Asante in Medford, Oregon along with Dr. Nicholas Butowski from UCSF. This medical team made a big difference in helping give Mike more time, but also advising and helping to spread joy in his life. Mike always said he wanted to see his daughter, Kristen at work. Well, through his two brain surgeries he got to do just that. It was during his time as a patient in the ICU she worked in that he got to meet and fall in love with an amazing, diverse group of people. Sarah Long, Robyn Flynn, Tiffany Stone, Kristina Lawson, Maggie Pech and Shantelle and John Taylor your love and care often left “a very conservative christian man” speechless and in tears. We pray that you felt not only Mike’s love but God’s love as well! I think we all would often feel God’s presence in how to love and rest in Him! Even in his final days Mike was blessed with an amazing hospice nurse, Melissa. She helped make him feel so comfortable and truly taken care of.
Predeceased by his parents Robert Murl and Janet Caroline Allstott. Mike’s memory is honored and kept alive by his loving wife, Bobbi, his children, Nic (Brooke) Allstott and Kristen Allstott. His Honorary son Danny (Danielle) Hall who made him an honorary Papa through Jackson Wilder and Lincoln James. His sisters Debbie (Hanley) Allstott Jenkins, Laura Schob, Becky (Steve) O’Malley, Lisa (Bob) Shanklin. To the amazing nieces and nephews that allowed their Uncle Mike to practice his dad skills on them before he became a Dad: He was so proud of you and knew that you will continue to grow into whom God has made you to be: Katie, Jessie, Katelin, Seth, Cora, Shannon, Jake, Sarah, Christine, Cassie, Courtney, Catrina, Amanda, Riley, Amber, Justin, Harry, Ethan, Travis and Blake.
We also wanted to thank the countless business colleagues who became friends and a treasure to Mike. You truly added so much value to his and our life, and we are thankful for the family that you have, and will continue to be to us.

Yet I am always with you; you hold me by my right hand. You guide me with your counsel, and afterward you will take me into glory. Whom have I in heaven but You? And there is none upon earth that I desire besides You. My flesh and my heart fail; But God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. ~ Psalms 73:23-26
